Getting Used to Life with a Newborn

These last couple weeks have been wild. I never knew baby gas could be so cute! Unfortunately we've learned that Carson's fussy time seems to be most every afternoon. It's pretty tough for Jana to listen to Carson cry for any length of time, but it's hard for me to know exactly what goes through the heart of a mother. Jana is doing spectacular at feeding Carson, but he seems to not know when to stop and always ends up spitting up a bunch. Thursday, we'll see Dr. Dixon again for a basic weight check, but little does he know that we're prepping a laundry list of question for him to tackle for us. As a new parent, it's tough to know how much impact we have or can control that will affect Carson's well-being and general happiness. For example, Jana's trying pretty hard now to cut a few things out of her diet that she thinks may make Carson fussy.

Carson is doing pretty good to get out of the house some. He's been around to visit several neighbors, he's been to church twice, he's been to a couple stores, and even out to eat... and so far no embarassing moments for mom and dad yet!

My parents came to meet Carson on 8/29/08. They drove down from Ohio for a week, which of course isn't long enough for grandparents to spend with grandbabies... but you do what you can. I think Jana's enjoyed having the extra help. She's really appreciated help getting adjusting to being a stay-at-home mom. The last couple of weeks, Steph Harvey helped line up a group wondeful people to bring us some meals... which I must say were so great. Having meals available in the evenings, really helped to free us up in the evenings to spend time with Carson. When people shower you with kindness during a time like this, it reminds us of how blessed we are.

Thanks for the update! How was the doctor's appointment? Don't worry--I'm sure Dr. Dixon is used to first time parents having lots of questions. Let us know how the appointment was!
