The last 72 hours have been filled with a range of emotions. Aside from a sonogram near the beginning of the 2nd trimester, we haven't had the benefit of watching Carson grow in utero like those of our friends that have had regular sonograms. Some even get to see their baby in the 3D sonograms. But for us, it's been nothing but suspense waiting to see what God has in store for the design of little baby Carson.
After a long day of labor on Thursday, Carson made his grand entrance into the world at 6:51pm. At about 5pm, Jana was told everything was in place to begin actively pushing. It might have been a faster labor, but apparently Carson was OP (sunny-side-up). They say it's a bit tougher to deliver when the baby is facing the ceiling, so it would take a little extra care to get him where he needed to be. Jana did amazing working through the toughest parts of it all. Around 6:45pm they told her they'd like to assist her by placing a smaller sunction device on his head. So the mid-wife and doctor were able to just add 1 gentle tug to help Carson crown and that was all that was needed for Carson to join us. He really didn't even cry that much and was such a good baby while they cleaned him up. He was 6lbs. 14oz. and a little over 18 inches long. All the reports have been encouraging and both baby and mother are recovering well.
