Turning Four is Fun!

I cannot believe that Carson turned four-years-old earlier this month. How can my baby be four-years-old? We had alot of fun celebrating his birthday this year. We asked Carson if there was any special gifts he was interested in receiving for his birthday and he always responded with two answers: a yo-yo and a crane-truck. Since we had no idea what he meant by a crane-truck, Charles and I opted to get him a yo-yo.
We allowed him to open his yo-yo first thing in the morning on his birthday. He came into our room the next morning and asked where his present for that day was. I told him it didn't work that way, but nice try!

As a special treat, I took Carson to the Georgia Aquarium (you get in free on your birthday!). He really wanted to touch the sea stars and stingrays but his little arms couldn't reach the bottom of the tanks (they probably designed it that way on purpose!). He was really excited about the"people mover" that moved you through the tunnel fish tank. He loved seeing the huge fish and sharks swimming all around him. I actually think he might have enjoyed the people-mover  more than the big fish tank. He stayed on that conveyor right to the very end.

We decided to throw Carson a nautical-themed birthday party. Captain Carson was excited to have his friends join  him for the fun.
Instead of birthday cake, I made jello sailboat desserts for the kiddos.
When Carson's friends first arrived at the party they all decorated their own sailor hats.

Nana, Cali, and Julee all join in the fun!
We then had the kids make sailboats (that actually floated) to use in a sailboat race later that day.
Before the boat races, the kids had to go on a treasure hunt  -- in a boat, through a waterfall, and through an obstacle course!

The kid's "treasure" were mini electric fans that they would need for their boat races.
After the treasure hunt, the kids headed outside with their sailboats and fans for the much anticipated boat race. The whole sailboat activity was Charles idea -- and it was a huge hit with the kids. They loved using their fans to propel their sailboats around the water.
Then it was back inside for the birthday song, jello, and presents!
Carson enjoyed opening his presents and did a good job of reading the card before unwrapping the gifts.
Carson's birthday celebration ended just as good as it began. Leave it up to Nana and Papa to find a crane-truck, they will not disappoint!
I am so excited to see what this next year brings for Carson and our family. He really brings so much joy and laughter to our life. Even at such a young age, I can see what a loving and caring  person he is. I am truly blessed to be his mommy!
